Julia
Heart Recipient

Julia was diagnosed with a heart condition at 4 and 1/2 months old. For three years, her condition was controlled with medication until her enlarged left ventricle began to cause the blood pressures in her right ventricle and lungs to increase.  She was very tired all the time, taking three and four hour naps every day. At 3 and 1/2 she had lung damage and she began coughing at night.

She was listed for a heart transplant on January 11, 2008 and our family relocated to Denver to wait for her new heart.

Julia received her new heart on May 15, 2008. Just a week after the transplant, she was playing and running.

Julia has a bright future- transplantation did more than save Julia’s life, it gave her a new one.
